INTENT
Work should exhibit an understanding and respect for the properties of the materials and should demonstrate the skillful manipulation of basic materials in producing the object.
DESIGN
Thoughtful designing should exhibit:
Appropriate proportions within the forms
Appropriate choice of materials for intended use
Suitable choice of process for fabricating the piece showing a high level of skill
Unique visual appearance reflecting maker
PRODUCTION QUALITY AND TECHNIQUE
The sculptor’s technical skill and control over the medium/ mediums should be easily recognized in the finished work.
SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
The design of an object must be original, or an adaptation of a traditional design which demonstrates the unique skills of the maker and reflects an individual identity of design. The object must be designed and fabricated by the applying maker. Since, in reproduction, there is no design input, the onus of judgment is upon technical skill alone. Copying currently produced work is not acceptable.
MATERIAL USED
All sculpture should be made of stable material that won’t in time change, thereby diminish the original intent of the object. Materials could include and not be limited to: Clay, Glass, Metal, Fiber, Wood, Recycled materials and/or any combination of. Media specific guidelines would apply in each case.
