BOTANICAL PRINTS
Dorothy Doherty
Dorothy is a visual artist working in oils, acrylics, mixed media, collage, and ceramics. She is inspired by both the urban and the natural landscape, and loves to connect with art, whether making art, studying art, or teaching art. Dorothy was born in Vancouver, BC, and attended the Vancouver School of Art. She received an MA in Art History from the University of Victoria, and a PDP from SFU, and worked as an art specialist part time in a North Vancouver alternate school. After retirement, she attended Capilano University to learn how art has changed over the years. She continues to take workshops in various media to stay abreast with changes in materials and technology.
Although she works with a wide range of materials, Dorothy's work in the Blackberry Gift Shop is primarily botanical in nature. Originals are matted or laminated to birch cradled panels. Digital inkjet greeting cards and prints provide affordable copies of archival originals. When not on display, botanical prints are best stored flat in a dry place to prevent warping and buckling. Treat them as you would treat any cherished artwork - away from moisture and excessive heat.
